The September '08 - September '09 poetry and short story contest has come to an end.
We are pleased to announce the final winners:
The first place winner in the September '09 poetry contest is, George McKim. He won for his poem, Unfathomable. The runner-up is Wanda Lea Brayton for her poem, Procession.
The first place winner in the September '09 short sotry contest is Mary Rainey for her story, Trick or Treat. The runner-up is Shirley Scurlock for her story, The Littlest Knight.
Congratulations to all of the monthly winners. We will be announcing the first place winner for the yearly poetry and short story contest January 2010. Best of luck to all!

The June Poetry and Short Story contest is now closed. We will be announcing the winners later this month. Best of luck to all!
The July Poetry and Short Story contest is now open! The first place winner in each contest will receive a $50 check and a copy of the contest anthology. The runner-ups from each contest will also receive a copy of the anthology. The first place winners from each monthly contest will be put into a yearly contest for the chance to win $250.
Even if you don't win you still have the opportunity to become a published writer. Our favorite poems and short stories from each contest period will be published into the monthly contest anthology. Writers will also receive a certificate of publication.

The winners of WritingRoom's March Poetry Contest are no strangers to any reader here at WritingRoom. Both Christopher Higgins and Ray Neighbor have both won before. This time Higgins has won first place for his poem, I Am Still Standing At The Door Mommy. This month, Ray Neighbor has won second place for his poem, Is It Just Me. Congratulations again, to both guys!
The first place winner of WritingRoom's March Short Story Conetst is Susan Tilly for her short story, The Bottle. The runner-up is Amanda Crum for her story, Delta Ghosts.

April is here and so is our April Poetry and Short Story Contests.
One Grand Prize Winner of each contest will receive:
- $50 cash
- The winning poem and short story will be the featured selection in the Anthology of the April
’09 contest entries.
- A printed and bound copy of the published Anthology.
- The Grand Prize winner of the April ’09 Poetry and Short Story Contest will be entered into the
yearly contest, with the grand prize winners from each month (September’08-September
’09). The Grand Prize winner of the year will receive $250.00.
One Runner Up from each contest will receive:
- A printed and bound copy of the published Anthology.
All participants will receive:
- A certificate of achievement and will be published in an Anthology.

Once again, we received so many fabulous poems and short stories. We are pleased to announce the winners of the February Poetry and Short Story Contest
First place winner of the poetry contest is Christopher Higgins for his poem, Land Without The Tangerine Sun. The runner-up is Jack Huber for his poem, I Dream Of Space.
The first place winner is, Dempsey Wilson for his story, The One True Dog. The runner-up is Jennifer Norum for her story, The Outing.

As February ends and March begins so does our poetry and short story contests.
We will be announcing the February winners on March 15, 2009.
The March Poetry and Short Story Contests are now open. One winner will receive a $50 check, a copy of the anthology in which their poem will be published and will be entered into the yearly contest. A runner-up will also receive a copy of the anthology.

The January poetry and short story contest is now closed. Once again we received some really great entries. We will be announcing the winner by February 15th. The first place winner of both contests will receive $50 and a copy of the upcoming anthology where their poem/short story will be published. One runner-up in each contest will receive a copy of the anthology. All contest entrants will be published in the anthology and will receive a certificate of publication.
With the close of the January contest comes the beginning of the February contest. Keep the entries coming!

Our September poetry and short story contest is now closed. But don't fret! We are now taking entries for both our October Poetry Contest and our October Short Story Contest. Best of Luck!

We are now running two new contests. The September '08 Poetry Contest and The September '08 Short Story Contest. We are accepting all types of poems and genres of stories. The winners of each contest will receive $50 and will be entered into the running for The September to September Poetry Contest / The September to September Short Story Contest. The winner of each of the September to September contests will receive $250.00.
We will also be publishing, through PublishingRoom, an Anthology of all of the entries. The winner and one runner up will receive a copy of the anthology that their story or poem is published in. The Anthology will be available for sale in the PublishingRoom bookstore.
