Poetry Dances ~ Read Request

by Lindsay 11/3/2008 6:18:00 PM

You may notice the little yellow button underneath the share button on the Poetry writings.  This button is for a read request for is a poetry site where readers and writers can find links to great poems throughout the internet.  Writers can submit original poetry directly to or send them read requests to review their work in the hopes of being added to PoetryDances.  Although they are looking for all sorts of poetry, there does seem to be a pattern of sorts with those they tend to chose.  Their editors tend to prefer work that is not to 'rhymey', and appear to lean towards the thoughts of people laid down for what they are-rather than one line blending in sounds with another.  Not that there is anything wrong with that type of poetry and you are welcome to submit that, too. We are excited to have added a button that makes sending PoetryDances a read request quick and easy.

We are thrilled to have such a strong and beneficial alliance with another writing site that is truly dedicated to helping writers reach their full potential.   Both sites have the same mission: to help emerging writers.  It is because of this we feel that adding this "PoetryDances~Read Request" button is just a value added feature to WritingRoom.

It is more than just us that is excited about our new found friendship.  Check out this snipet of kind words from PoetryDances latest press release:

Six new favorite writers were created in October on, in a month which saw an important new arrangement with come into effect.  Month after month, new writers and new poems are discovered by during its visits to other poetry sites, and blogs across the internet.  Poems are often submtitted to the Site directly.  A proportion of the writers behind these poems are listed as Favorite Writers on the Site.  Also, in a new and significant advance, has agreed to incorporate a 'read request' link back to Poetry, alongside all poems written and hosted on its webiste.  These links offer to all writers of poetry on, an easier method of submitting their poems to for review and possible selection.

In recent comments about this new arrangment, Anthony French, the creator of explained: "We are very pleased to be working so closely with see the Site as one of the most vibrant, friendly and accessible out there.  Additionally the standard of poems reaching us from the Site is highly impressive.  This may be in part down to the broad array of 'expert' guidance made available to its members.  In offering this guidance to help writers develop and improve their craft across so many areas, has presented itself as a truly excellent partner.  We are confident that the read requests coming from will steadily grow with time; bringing increased exposure for its writers along with the two sites themselves.  We look forward to finding and working with other poetry sites to offer such a great platform to their members."

I highly encourage all poets to click on the "PoetryDances ~ Read Request" button.  The more eyes on your work the more chances for success and the pure satisfaction of being read.
