Congrats vhwitlock and mnpilot

A year ago, as I sat penning a book for a client, I couldn't help but realize how fortunate I was to be a working writer.  Here I was, doing all that I had ever wanted to do while so many writers, far more talented than I, were still just aspiring to spend their days working with words.

That is when I came up with the idea for WritingRoom.  A place where writers can come together, encourage, critique and take each other to the next level in their writing; whether it be by making a difference in another's life with their words or by becoming a published, produced or working writer.

I am elated to announce that WritingRoom has assisted two of our members in taking their first steps to achieving their goals as writers.  It is with much pleasure that I tell you of the success of vwhitlock and mnpilot.

vwhitlock, or Victoria as she is known  outside the cyberspace world, has recently found writing to help her face tough times.  She is a brilliant poet and story-teller. Victoria had recently entered a poem she wrote, LETTERS TO A DEAD MAN, into a writing contest.  Her words were held in such high regards that she was contacted by NCA Music Publishing and Recording Co., with a request to "publish, set to original music, and record it using live professional Nashville musicians".  The demo of her song is scheduled to be out this month.

mnpilot, known as Corey is a 19-year-old aspiring writer form Minnesota.  His novella, KEEP STILL IN PARADISE, is the story of a young man battling drug addiction and BiPolar Disorder. It is going to be published this year.

I wish the best of luck to all of you and want to extend a helping hand anyway I can.  If you have something exciting happening in your writing career please drop me a line.

Of Atlantis

by Lindsay 5/18/2008 10:29:00 PM
I am proud to announce the book release of one of our members, Lanaia Lee.  Her new novel OF ATLANTIS is now available for sale at
OF ATLANTIS, is an epic fantasy novel based on the king of Atlantis, known as Archimedes.  Archimedes was blessed with a source of untapped power.  In this, the first book of a five column series, Archimedes journeys from childhood to become King.  Archimedes struggles with his father, engages in battles across the world, and is betrayed by Uric, his advisor.  After the fateful day, when the ocean swallows Atlantis whole, Uric and Archimedes survive, thanks to thier gift of eternal life;  thus begins their epic battle spanning lifetimes.  Archimedes was proud, he was regal, he was OF ATLANTIS.
As intriguing the story of Archimedes, so too is the story of its author Lanaia Lee.  Despite all the tragedy fate handed her, she has risen above to become a published poet and novelist.  She was striken with the disease known as the silent killer--hypertension.  Lanaia suffered a stroke at the age of thirty-five.  She has been confined to a wheelchair since that time.  After her stroke, Lanaia discovered she had a talent for words and story telling.  Her talent completely innate, she has never studied writing but as thrived and succeeded in the writing world.
Lanaia has always tried to make the best of a bad situation. With her knew found talent, Lanaia has emerged a strong, brilliant and vivacious women.  Lanaia is determined to one day become a best selling author.  I see her wish coming true with this beautifully crafted story.
Lanaia was kind enough to share a snippet from OF ATLANTIS with us here at WritingRoom.  Everyone should check it out, congratulate Lanaia on the release of her book, and buy OF ATLANTIS!

New Rating System

by Lindsay 5/8/2008 5:21:00 PM

We have changed our rating system. It is much better now-- or at least we think it is.   It is now a 1-10 scale instead of thumbs up or thumbs down.  We have taken your past ratings and recalculated them to fit into the new system.  Also, you will now only be able to rate a writing once.

We have gone through the site and fixed even more of the bugs.  Slowly but surely we are finding, catching and eliminating them.  Again, thank you for bearing with us!

Check out these fabulous members:  danicpa68, Sweetpea, Unicorn2008
